“Systemic bullying, hazing and abuse generally are identified with poor, weak or toxic organizational cultures. Cultures that are toxic have stated ethical values that are espoused but not employed, and other non-ethical values which are operational, dominant, but unstated.

Such cultures thrive when good people are silent, silenced, or pushed out; when bad apples are vocal, retained, promoted, and empowered; and when the neutral majority remain silent in order to survive. Those who are most successful in such a toxic culture are those who have adapted to it, or adopted it as their own”. (McKay, Arnold, Fratzl & Thomas, 2008)

"Organizations that become known for their bullying culture"

" ....organizations that become known for their bullying culture can hurt themselves in terms of their recruitment prospects and also in terms of public opinion and confidence. If you think for a moment, my guess is that you will be able to think of at least one Canadian employer that has become well known in the press as of late for the many complaints of bullying and harassment against it which have been reported. If you think about the impression you now have about that particular organization, ask yourself if this is the impression you would want the world to have about your organization." 1. Alas Newcastle university with it's backward whorehouse politics.

Huge bullying and silencing reputation, bullshit staff and a generally toxic place to work and study.

    1. I have been employed at the Uni for over 20 years. In the last 12 months or so I have seen bullying taking place. I have been bullied but not in a way that all can see. I miss out on opportunities others are given. Appointments take place without recruitment and these appointments are one's I would be happy and more than capable of doing (at a higher level than I am presently employed). Yes, I have spoken to my supervisor on many occasions but nothing has happened. I am now so unhappy and depressed that I have no other option but to resign.

    2. I would just resign and walk away. They are above hearing complaints about their "new directions" and "safe collaborative space free from intimidation".

The good news is other far more reputable universities need people like you. People who are capable, moral and have integrity. People who don't bully to get ahead. People who are genuine and talented.

In 10 years time technology will render the tyranny of distance irrelevant. That means there will be no need for a regional university like Newcastle to exist at all. Only the good lecturers will prevail. The benthic scum dwellers will eventually only have themselves to answer to.

      Hold tight,
Always believe in education and decency.

  3. Study in Newcastle (not all of it true :0)

Anyone who has any brains has already left anyway.

We are in the top 3% of all universities because we said so. It's not true but we publish it anyway.

The CBD is a literal wasteland with a brothel or pornography shop on every block, yet you may wonder why a whore is running parts of the university.

If you are smart we will hate you and target you. If you are stupid we will also bully you. You must be committed to being mediocre.

Some staff and students are more equal than others.

Complaints are only as loud as the amount of baffling you use to suppress them.

We are committed to a safe working environment. Once you have been removed.

You will be surprised at what the management actually achieve. Challenging the status quo takes brains. We are the status quo..

We are committed to stopping bullying. Because we said so. Problem fixed.

Fancy challenging the norm? We have ways of correcting you.

Complaints are music for deaf ears. Don't know who wrote that but it's nice.

Please complain about harassment. We will do our best not to listen to you.

We are a brand commited to making a huge result for our students and staff.

Love me, love my university. No maybe you'd just better love me.

    Cheers and much love all:)
