“Systemic bullying, hazing and abuse generally are identified with poor, weak or toxic organizational cultures. Cultures that are toxic have stated ethical values that are espoused but not employed, and other non-ethical values which are operational, dominant, but unstated.

Such cultures thrive when good people are silent, silenced, or pushed out; when bad apples are vocal, retained, promoted, and empowered; and when the neutral majority remain silent in order to survive. Those who are most successful in such a toxic culture are those who have adapted to it, or adopted it as their own”. (McKay, Arnold, Fratzl & Thomas, 2008)

Concerned with the quality of education students are getting?

"I have seriously considered killing myself since I was bullied out of my work here for FOLLOWING policy and being concerned for the quality of education that the students were getting. Even after three years, the thought of ending it all is ever-present. I have done my best to keep my huge stress and despair quiet as I know that any sign of that is often used by the bullies and their friends as a means of getting rid of you or as a reason for your "mad" behaviour. My friends have "gone missing", family is close to breaking up, all other work disappears and previous close colleagues suddenly no longer know you...... This is what happens when you dare to speak out for the truth at this university, when you try to act for the benefit of students and your discipline and when you are not obsessed with POWER and your journey to the top." 1. Rest noble one, the organisation you speak of is sick beyond belief. In biological terms the disease either kills the host organism or eventually the host's natural defences disable the parasites and then continues to function healthily.

In social terms people term this natural justice or karma.

In my case, the bully head of school I once had.

He has stepped down and 6 months later nobody mentions him or his work at all. Not bad for someone who promised to change the way we learn our craft.

He is still around technically. Yet he is not held in any regard at all. Nobody in their right mind would hire him outside dear old UoN. They haven't either.

He was right to defend his reputation. With each and every despicable act his profile (unknown to him of course) got lower and lower. Finally in due time the natural order of the earth nabbed him.

For all his lies and cowardice, all he has earned is to be permanently forgotten as the mediocre bully he always was. In his grey decay he lacked self awareness. It was always someone else's fault. It was mostly his.

By the time June comes time nobody will be bothered asking me who I was writing about, he was that trivial.

I am very glad the real educators will finally have their vengeance. Don't cry when the bullies in office defeat themselves with their own treachery. I definitely won't.
